Lined pressure relief valves

Luofu LFCL valves have an F46 or PFA lining for wet chlorine, strong acids, and alkalis. A lined valve can take the place of a nickel alloy valve in these services. Inlet sizes run from NPS 1 to 8 (DN25 to DN200). Pressure ratings run from Class 150 to Class 300 with ASME flanges, or PN10 to PN40 with PN flanges. The temperature range is -60 to +200 °C (-76 to +392 °F).

Where it is used

In wet chlorine, strong acids, and alkalis, an all-metal valve needs a nickel alloy body and trim.

In an LFCL valve, an F46 or PFA lining covers the main parts that the medium touches. The lined valve can take the place of a nickel alloy valve in these services.

These are the limits of the series. The limits of one valve depend on its size, rating, and materials. The sizing confirms them for each tag number. The Class range and the PN range are the ranges we offer with ASME flanges and with PN flanges. One is not a conversion of the other.

Standards and certifications

Orifice sizes use the API 526 letters D to T. The ASME, National Board, and TS documents cover Luofu's production of relief valves. The quotation states which of them apply to each tag:

What we need to quote this valve

Send these with your inquiry. A completed data sheet covers all of them, and the PSV data sheet page explains each line:

  1. Medium, phase, and concentration
  2. Required relieving capacity
  3. Set pressure
  4. Back pressure at the outlet
  5. Operating and relieving temperature
  6. Inlet and outlet size and rating
  7. Material requirements
  8. Design code (ASME, API, EAC, or the project specification)
  9. Quantity, per tag number
  10. Project country

LFO, LFB

Spring-loaded

Conventional and bellows types for most process relief duties.

LFXD

Pilot-operated

Opens and reseats at the set pressure regardless of back pressure.

LFGS

Steam service

Steam up to 650 °C with the nozzle welded to the body.

LFNJ

Jacketed

Media that crystallize or have high viscosity.

Questions engineers ask

Is the lining PTFE?

No. The lining is F46 or PFA, as we specify. Give the medium, its concentration, and the temperature on the data sheet, and the sizing confirms the lining.

When is a lined valve a better choice than a nickel alloy valve?

A lined valve fits wet chlorine, strong acids, and alkalis when the duty stays within -60 to +200 °C (-76 to +392 °F). The rating must also fall within Class 150 to Class 300. Outside those limits, tell us the duty, and the selection looks at the other series.

Can the valve handle wet chlorine?

Yes. Wet chlorine is one of the services the LFCL series covers. Give the water content and the temperature on the data sheet.
